If ever there was a time when our team needed to step up – it is now. We’ve seen the Lightning cruise into Montreal too many times before and take 2 points. There is no denying the effect that the city has on Lecavalier, St Louis, and Tanguay. It is as simple as this: Tampa [...]

Those of you who stayed up to watch the game last night were rewarded with a well deserved 60 minute effort that resulted for two points for the good guys. In the murky mess that is the Eastern conference, the Habs have tenuously reclaimed 8th place. I don’t know if they’ll hold it, but this [...]

I love when the Habs play Western Conference teams. Not because we win (we usually lose), but because it offers a chance to see players that we just don’t see enough of during the course of a season. The Olympics was such a fantastic opportunity to see a guy like Shea Weber, who Habs fans [...]

Carey gets the start tonight as Jaro has not had much rest of late. We’ll also get to see AK46 and Benoit Pouliot back in the lineup. I don’t like our positioning for the stretch at all. We’re not positioned well for a playoff run or a good draft pick. Deadline approaching. New GM. New Owners [...]

I figured I would put up a space for anyone who wants to to discuss all of the action over the Olympic break. I wont change it for individual games, but feel free to chat up the (so far) fantastic skill that has been displayed in both the men’s and women’s events. I’ve been watching [...]

I didn’t get to see much of the game yesterday, so I can’t comment on the Habs play. I did catch the skirmish at the end which will no doubt carry over into tonight’s game. Given that the Habs gave up 3 goals before they started playing yesterday, I’m going to suggest they get on it [...]

The Habs have shown in the past few games that when the style of play is up tempo, they can compete with the best teams in the NHL. They have also shown (against Boston, and for stretches of the Washington game) that they are still vulnerable to a pressuring forecheck by big bodies. The question [...]

Just a quick note as we get ready for the game tonight between the NHL’s best team and the Montreal Bulldogs. Great news to see Andrei Kostitsyn out skating (even if only in sweats). We couldn’t possibly need good news more now than ever! Here’s hoping for a miracle tonight. Go Habs Go!!

I dont know about you guys but I’m still feeling great after yesterday’s refreshing win over the defending champs. From the start Montreal took the game to Pittsburgh with speed and determination. They used an aggressive forecheck, and for the first time since Martin uttered the words “puck possession”, the Canadiens delivered with crisp passes in [...]

What a great weekend this will be with two Canadiens matinee games and the Superbowl. Here’s hoping that it isn’t ruined by Sidney Crosby who I’m pretty sure has never played a bad game against the Canadiens in his life. Sid is having himself a whale of a season with 71 points in 56 games. [...]

It never takes very much to set the mood for these two clubs. Living in Beantown last year I can tell you from first-hand experience that Bruins fans feel the same loathing and disgust that we feel towards them. Last year I watched a fat slob of a Broons fan swear at a middle aged [...]

The Habs will be in tough tonight as they face one of the league’s hottest teams in the Vancouver Canucks who have won their last 7 games. They go up against the Sedin twins who some believe came within 24 hours of potentially suiting up for the Habs this year. In itself, that is bad [...]

The Habs will get no time to brood over their frustrating loss in Sunrise last night, as they face the other Florida franchise in Tampa this evening. Taking care of business tonight is essential. The Habs play the Florida Panthers in what has become a broken record cliche – another incredibly important inter-conference matchup. With half of the conference locked within 3 points and the NHL season set up the way it is, the odds of playing a direct competitor for a playoff spot is about 1 in 1. [...]

A pretty solid game last night against the 2nd place Devils has left many in the Habs universe scratching their heads. Who is this team? Are we the blowout suffering push-overs from last week, or are they a team that can play responsible team defense and use speed to create prolongued offensive pressure? Maybe both? [...]

It might be a good idea to lower your expectations for tonight. I dont remember a game against the Canadiens in Martin Brodeur’s career where he didn’t play well. Montreal had a good thrid period against the Blues, lets see if they can impliment that work ethic, and philosophical approach to tonight’s game (aka we [...]

I love when Western Conference teams come in to play at the Bell Centre. Its not that the Habs ever do very well, but it is a nice break from the usual drudgery of the Buffalo, Boston, Toronto, Buffalo… again drone of the NHL season. Tonight the Habs face the Blues who seem to be in perpetual [...]

Lots of disapointment to go around after last night’s blown opportunity to move ahead in the standings. However, life in the NHL does not allow for brooding. The Habs are back in action tonight against the NY Rangers in NYC. Though they blew an opportunity to move up in the standings, the Habs will get [...]

You gotta love Saturday night rivalry games. The Leafs and Bruins usually get most of the attention, but the Habs/Sens rivalry is strong with lots of visiting team jerseys filling the stands. The game is more important tonight given that the Habs and Senators are gridlocked in the Eastern conference playoff battle. Both teams currently have 50 [...]

Before I get to the game tonight I want to mention a trade rumour that has popped up in the past few days. Of course other names have [...]

The Habs face the Panthers tonight. The question as always is: who starts? My guess is Jaro. One day when I have time I want to find out in how many of Carey Price’s starts have the Canadiens scored 1 or less goals? He seems to be disproportionately unlucky in that regard. Neither Sergei or Andrei will be [...]

Early game today. It’ll be interesting to see how the team comes out today against a very good Sabres team. If the two scoring lines are going strong then we are a tough team to beat. Both Kostitsyns are game time decisions, and Mara is still recovering.
